The project “Rooted Resonance” explores the theme of “Measuring Nature” through storytelling, weaving together ideas from ethnobotany and speculative fabulation. It seeks to understand the delicate balance between recognizing nature as a living, sentient presence and honoring the profound relationship humans share with the natural world. Through a blend of visuals and writing, the project brings together scientific research and imaginative narratives, examining the anthropological biases embedded in the history of knowledge creation. Dialogue plays a central role—not just as a tool for exchanging information, but as a way to interpret and convey stories where fiction and science meet. In doing so, Rooted Resonance reimagines how we use conversation to uncover the intricate, interconnected threads between human knowledge, imagination, and the living world around us.

Shadows of Time

This painting leans into the theme of a “slow process,” following the shifting shadows of trees as they dance with the changing light. It was made by tracing those shadows at different times of day—very meditative—and then going through the decidedly un-peaceful process of figuring out how to overlay them in a way that didn’t make them look like seaweed. Surprise! They still look like seaweed. Regardless, it’s meant as an open invitation to slow down, be present, and notice the beauty in those everyday moments we usually breeze past. It’s about the art of being in the moment—moving at the same pace as time itself—like stopping to smell the flowers and noticing the quiet poetries in life.

Wisteria Tides

Honestly? It’s not that deep. I just wanted to try something out—and, well—this was the result. In contrast to Shadows of Time, but that’s exactly why I wanted to put them side by side. It’s the duality. Sometimes things can just exist for the sake of existing, free of the crime of being unprofound. I need to remind myself of that more than anyone, being a die-hard existentialist. However, If anyone ever got interested in this, I’m sure I could whip up a soul-wrenching, thought-provoking, self-reflective backstory. But until then, it’s not that deep (and that’s okay <3).

Unmasking Layers of Human Energy, 2023, Acrylic on Canvas, 50×60 cm

“Unmasking Layers of Human Energy” is an artistic exploration of the many ways human energy can be experienced, bridging scientific theories with spiritual insights. The project unfolds across three distinct layers, culminating in a three-piece installation that weaves together traditional and digital mediums.

The first layer captures the physical exchange of energy between people, while the second delves into the internal processes of energy generation within the body. The final layer reaches beyond the tangible, offering a metaphysical and spiritual visualization of human energy.

By blending science, spirituality, and art, this project invites viewers to reflect on the unseen forces that shape, connect, and define our shared human experience.

In 2021, following my Goucahe Landscape series, I decided to do another landscape series called ‘Spring’– ironically, because I lived in Bali… and we didn’t have spring… (or any seasons other than rain season). Considering it was in the midst of COVID lockdown, these paintings were my escape.

This continuation is called the ‘Summer Series’–I know, I’m really creative with names– in my defence it made sense. Fun fact: the ‘Summers Day’ one is my favourite, and I would only gift prints of it to my favourite people– so if you’ve ever received one– you have a piece of my heart. If you are a close person in my life and haven’t received one– I ran out of prints, but you have a pice of my heart nevertheless.
